Floating Blue . . . whatever is here, is here. Whatever isn't here, was never meant to be here. Is that nonsensical enough? I thought so.

Sure, I could make this site about pottery, since floating blue is the name of a glaze. And as it happens, I am into pottery. But I really hadn't intended for this site to be a ceramics site. Maybe I'll change my mind later on, though. It's just that floating blue seemed like it would make a good domain name.

Oh, what the heck. If you are here looking for more information on floating blue glazes, I might as well give you a few good links.

Floating Blue—An Awesome Cone 6 Oxidation Glaze:

I never was one for mixing up glaze recipes. Just lazy, I guess. Oh, it's not a guess—I am lazy when it comes to glaze recipes! I like the glaze to be in a jar, ready to be applied to a pot. But floating blue seems like an especially lovely glaze. I am very fond of Cone 6 Oxidation glazes. You certainly could do worse than to use an exquiste floating blue glaze!

If, however, you aren't keen on mixing up your own glaze recipe, Laguna Clay has some great pre-mixed glazes. No floating blue that I can see, however. I recommend Castille Blue or Oasis Blue as two consistently lovely blue mid-range stoneware oxidation glazes.
